The dog kept on baring down on him, growling, saliva dribbling down from bared fangs when an arm came about it's neck and pulled it away, it was the ownder, on her knee's pulling him back. "No, Bad boy, no Klive, stop!" Muttered the girl, long firey red curls spilling from a bonnet as she drug the dog backwards, once a few feet away the dog sat down and glared at the man, angry.

"I'm sorry, are you alright? He didn't bite you did he?" She looked at him, her freckled face scewed up in fear and worry, brilliant green eyes looking down on him, "Do you need any help? I can call my Da?" She asked, brushing back some of the hair from her face an
looking towards a large farm in the distance, inhaling to make a call.

Before she could let out the call he held up an arm to stop her. "I'm....I'm ok..." He managed, never taking his eyes off the dog. "Do you have a phone I could use?" His head ached from the fall. He reached up and touched his brow, pulling his hand away to reveal a small amount of blood from a cut on his forehead. "Yea. We have un back at the house. You a'right to walk?" she asked him. "Y-yea. I'll be ok.." He stood up, leaning against the tree for support.

He followed her down a trail that wound through the woods, the sounds of people moving around growing ever closer the farther he walked. The dog finally ran ahead of them barking and went around a bend in the path. As he came around himself he burst upon a clearing with a house off to the side. A man looked up holding an axe from where he had been chopping wood to see what the commotion was.

There he shook, and wept bitter hot tears, curling into an infant like ball, sobbing to the only mother he now possessed, Earth.

Night went darker, and colder, and dew fell on everything. Morning rose in a slow cold splendor, and the man was asleep at the tree, covered in a fine mist of moisture, fevered dreams whispering in his mind, nightmares that would haunt him evermore.

Slowly someone approached, being lead by a large dog, which looked more to be wolf, then domestic. The dog's shackles rose, and a low growl emitted from barred teeth of a snarling muzzle as it crept closer to the sleeping man. It's owner came round the bend and saw, and gave a soft gasp. And dropped a basket that had contained recently gathered mushrooms.

His eyes were shut tightly as he lay there motionless upon the moist earth, the barks nothing more then a distant annoyance as he slowly awoke to his surroundings, hoping the past day was all just a horrid dream that was all in his mind. Bringing his fatigued arms up beside his encumbered body, using every bit of energy he had to push himself up, raising his head up to meet the eyes of the barking creature.

Eyes instantly going from confused and pained to shocked and afraid as he fell onto his backside and quickly scampered back a few feet as if trying to get away from this hell hound that has suddenly appeared. He hadn't noticed the owner who had moved around the bend, mainly his worries revolved around what the fierce canine would do to him. His eyes wide, lips moving quickly as if wanting to ward off the beast with sound but with no luck.

He scampered to put his back up against a tree as the canine had kept pace with him pinning him against the tree, the owner standing there in shock at who was there.

The water was bitterly cold. Forever the pin pricking sensation of the icy wetness would be forged in his memory as he scoured the fine creases of his hand. Scraping the underside of his nails free of the caked blood there. Watching as the rusted sin of his actions flowed away that chilly dark night. Standing and watching the small icy stream trickle away over stone and bend, his fingers giving an odd burning, yet dreadfully numb cold sensation. A sigh escaped his lips, his face felt taught against the bones of his skull, as if perhaps people could see the weariness.
***
His glassy eyes moved rapidly within the sockets as if visually searching for something and finding nothing. Closing his eyes quickly, bringing his hands to his face quickly as if shielding his eyes from some horrible evil from his sight. Thoughts of what had occured were all a blur as images flew through his mind, unsure of what he was seeing or even thinking at this point. His scraggly legs were like rubber beneath the weight of his body, catching his balance several times as he stood there. Then his arms falling limp to his sides, drawing in a breathe of the chilly air into his lungs and slowly exhaled. His eyes then followed the stream as soon his legs accompanied his eyes, beginning to walk down the rocky waterside.

He stumbled amongst the trees, numbly following the trail the water cut through the underbrush. With every step the weight of his actions began to creep up on him. The realization of the sins he had just committed bore down on him more and more heavily until he though he would collapse. "AAAAAAAAARRRRRGH!" A primal roar to the heavens, the clouds the only witness to what he had done. He broke into a run, trying to escape the guilt, but to no avail. All of a sudden a root, growing out towards the life-giving water he paralleled caught his foot and he fell, collapsing with exhaustion to the damp earth.
